Today we are delighted to announce the return of the first ever NYYRIKKI Overwatch team captain, Miku ‘perry’ Airaksinen back to the organisation in a role that will see him join the behind the scenes coaching staff.

Miku will be working with NYYRIKKI & the players as the organisation’s Player Development Coach.

As an organisation, NYYRIKKI has always heavily adopted a ‘coaching is key’ ethos throughout everything that we do. With the addition of perry into this role, this allows for us to not only focus on improving our teams as a collective unit but also focusing on our players individual ability and gaining confidence in their ability.

Miku made a statement regarding his return to NYYRIKKI:

“I’m thoroughly excited to be re-joining Nyyrikki. Ever since I moved on to a different phase in my life, I kept wanting to return to Overwatch in some form. I knew that I wanted to keep living and breathing Overwatch. That’s where Nyyrikki stepped in, by presenting me with an opportunity to make a comeback as a player development coach for the Overwatch team. After starting to work with the amazing players at Nyyrikki, it didn’t take long for me to realize that this role supports my strengths, and will allow me to develop myself while also helping all of the players make individual progress. My dream is to see Nyyrikki make it to contenders, and to also see players of Nyyrikki make it to OWL. Just as the players are working hard to develop themselves, I will also be rolling up my sleeves and getting to work together with the players, in order to make my dream a reality.”

NYYRIKKI COO Matt Wright also commented:

“We are thrilled to be working with Miku again, this time as a member of our coaching staff for Overwatch. Miku has recently completed his studies and wants to continue his dream of furthering Finnish esports, a vision that he instantly bought into at the very start when we launched NYYRIKKI. There is no doubt in our minds that Miku will do a fantastic job and has what it takes to succeed in this role. Welcome back perry!”
